(The Fourth in the Series-III of ‘The 7 Mavens of SOPs’)

Profound Gratitudes, yet again from ᵭᵱᵬ’the मितवा’ for Great Response to Series-I & II, and a grand welcome to Series-III of ‘The 7 Mavens of SOPs’. As you know by now, ‘ᵭᵱᵬ’ is my initial and ‘मितवा’ (Mi-Ta-Wa), a Marathi acronym for Friend (मित्र -Mi ), Philosopher (तत्वज्ञ- Ta) and Guide (वाटाड्या- Wa), my humble role to ‘Sit Back and Give Back’, after 4 decades of career.
Series Title: ‘7 Mavens of SOPs’ is expression for instilling some of my learning as “seven propositions in sets of seven SOPs (norms)”, befitting the human mental capacity and attention span.
I always have been striving to develop younger colleagues by: Shaping, Shining, Sharing; and Spurring them too; and most importantly Stimulating them for Self-Searching. While delving through this delighting detour, I discovered the ‘7Searchers Of Potential’. I acknowledge that they are yet evolving. But they still act synergistically to enhance the effect of the former three: in holistic heightening of the human in the individual; and in raising the bar of excellence first personally and then professionally.
Reason: Like the reason is root for every action, here too, it is. The intense interactions involved enroute the self-search, require investment of time and energy on part of both, the seeker, and the supporter (as a matter of fact, it occurred to me later that these roles actually keep rotating). Hence, to make the journey mutually meaningful, its REASON must be divulged, deliberated, and deciphered upfront. Otherwise the interactive sessions intended for the self-search will be reduced to mere social sittings.
Rapport: The interface of ‘Give and Receive’, ’Seek and support’ and ‘Stimulate and Search’ endeavors, certainly calls for quite a lot of Commitment, Respect, Understanding, Integrity, Sensitivity, Equability, Confidentiality and Trust. Establishing these aspects, from commencement of and during initial phase of this mission of self-searchability, is crucial to its commendable completion. RAPPORT addresses all these aspects and hence it is an important ingredient. Subordinating everything else to the very reason and Surrendering both-selves to rapport will ensure the smooth launch of the mission.
Result: The broad direction decided in the searcher of RESULT needs further refinement and granularity. It is like appending an answer to ‘WHY’ sought earlier, with some more answers to ‘WHERE, WHEN, HOW MUCH’ and likes. Metaphorically it is like setting the sails of ship reasonably precisely to be able to head towards the definite destination. And of course, that all needs to be done here, before cruising off further. Albeit there will be minor course corrections on the way.
Reality: An ‘as is assessment’ of the prevailing factors, present circumstances, and existing environment viz a viz the REASON and particularly with respect to RESULT is necessary. This is required to ascertain as to ‘WHAT’ all can be done and what must be undertaken to reach the ‘as desired state’ indicated by the result. It calls for a careful, all-encompassing consideration and thorough examination of all these elements to understand the ‘on the ground situation’ and listing of related features it holds. This will automatically strengthen the hands of next searcher.
Recourse: The above, feature by feature detailing, with the searchlight on result, will naturally point at the respective alternatives possible as a remedy or the HOW components of the self-searching. It is again crucial to weigh them from practicability standpoint. Also, it is recommended to revisit their linkage between REALITY and RESULT before making the choice for implementation. A great deal usage of ‘WHAT-IF, WHAT-ELSE, and SO-WHAT’ will help the choice of precise few from petty many. The rationale in the concluding paragraphs, should justify my stance of referring to success stories, relating to great deeds and recounting experiences for this searcher.
Roadmap: What a Blueprint is to the building is the roadmap to the realization. And one will agree and appreciate that the breadth and depth of the road map will decide effectiveness and efficiency of the realization. This searcher, the ROADMAP, then demands, that all the outcomes of previous ones, the warps of WHAT and HOW and the wefts of WHEN and WHERE, are consciously and conscientiously woven together. This firm fabric thus crafted will sure draft the success of next searcher.
Realization: Despite the good work so far, this is by far the most difficult-to-deploy searcher. Dealing with this requires certain competencies on part of the Stimulator. One who foresees the challenge of at least these 4’C’s and skills up can surpass. (S)he her/himself is the big resistance to change (s)he wants to see within. Winning over this Condition or the syndrome for self and the seeker is important. Understanding very many factors such as dealing with accomplished adults, the client angle, availability aspects etc. add up to Complexity which needs to be handled aptly. Risk of monotony, weariness and laggardness demand Creativity and controlled Candidness to combat for the continuity of the journey itself.
These searchers glide you in the mission of supporting self-searching which is all about exploring, extracting, and exploiting the latent traits of seeker (and of self too as a natural byproduct). It is as such a co-discovering new facets of personas for both participants. If you may allow, let me call it COseArCHING. The differentiator in this pursuit of personal excellence from its traditional counterpart is the liberty to look for best benchmark options in the domain while using the searcher of RECOURSE.
